Simple Set Up and Sturdy
We as a family have and overabundance of DVD and Blu-ray Discs piled up in crates; the Westbrook Audio Pier in Dark Walnut has cleared up a lot of our mess. The Westbrook Audio Pier was very simple to set up and only took about an hour. One of the best things about the set up was the instructions were all visual diagrams that were clearly marked (my husband does not like to read instructions) and it also came with a package of spare parts; I always hated missing one screw or bolt. Another surprise was that all of the holes on the pieces lined up perfectly.
Completed the Westbrook Audio Pier stands 4ft tall and 22 inches wide and has 4 shelves that are each 16 inches deep with 11 inches of clearance; very spacious. The shelves are sturdy and locked in place with no wobbling and large enough for video players, cable boxes and most other electronics you may want to use it for.
The only down side that I can see is that there are no holes in the back of the unit from which electrical cords can hang to attach to a power source; if you intend to use this as an entertainment unit you would have to cut your own holes for the cords.
I am perfectly happy with the Westbrook Audio Pier because I will be using it to display my video collection and it is beautiful to look at/well-constructed.

Very Nice
I am thankful I was given the opportunity to review this Westbrook Audio Pier as I was surprised at just how nice it is and how much room each shelf has.
I first noticed how beautiful and rich looking this dark walnut is. It is a black but not harsh black paint. This furniture has ‘somewhat- lighter’ streaks that real wood would have and, to me, takes away the harshness of black paint. I guess I'm thinking that this furniture has character whereas black paint furniture doesn't, at least not to me.
I like that the back has the same look as the rest of the furniture plus you use screws to attach it which should make it more sturdy and doesn’t use those little nails that have always been provided for attaching the back in other furniture that I’ve put together for various years.
I put this together by myself and it helped when I remembered to make certain that the longer “X” line on the cam locks should face the open area on the bottom which faces the open area on the shelf. Sorry I couldn’t explain it better but you’ll figure it out when you use the cam locks.
I also wanted to state that when I received this, the tools (screws, cam locks, etc.) were not included but the company promptly sent what I needed. That is always an asset when buying anything and since I order a lot of items, buying from a good company is always an asset.
Overall this is a very nice piece of furniture that you can use to put your audio/media pieces or basically anything you need. Since I am living with my sister right now, I’ll be using it as a kitchen pantry. Later I can use it where I like it or need it as it is pretty versatile.

Westbrook Audio Pier A solid piece
Quite a stout bookcase (audio pier), standing at 48.25". It was very well packaged, which is a good thing, as not all carriers are great at delivery.
It's pressed wood with a veneer coating, but it is done very well. In fact, once it is assembled, it is hard to tell that it isn't an oak piece.
My unit, didn't come with assembly instructions, but when I wrote to the company, they said they would be glad to send them to me. I didn't need them, as it was pretty easy to assemble; seeing that I've made quite a few pieces of furniture. Looking at the pre-drilled holes, it wasn't too hard to figure out.
They give you enough pieces to assemble it, plus a bag of spares. You'll need a screwdriver with both flat & Philips (though you can do it with the Philips narrow), I suggest using an electric one for mounting the braces & the backing sheet.
I glue the raw pieces of my wooden furniture, or just the connecting dowels as it holds the unit together much longer. It isn't required, as this is very sturdy. Another thing I like to do, is get some weight on it soon after assembly, to help it settle in.
I am impressed with how nicely everything fits. There isn’t any exposed wood (save for the bottom-which you may want to coat or cover). Each piece is part of the build/support as well as the aesthetics of it. I would also like to point out that they use screws to assemble these pieces; this is better than brads (nails), because they hold better.
Adjustable shelves would have been nice, because not everything is a standard size. I wouldn't suggest leaving out a shelf, unless you secure it to the wall or something. Not to worry, they do include these pieces to do that.
As you can see from one of the pictures, the cat enjoys this unit. So you know it doesn't tip easily.
If you're the kind that likes to modify or add your own touches to things; the wood is thick enough to do so. I don't know what the maximum weight allowance is for this, & considering that it is for your audio equipment, I wouldn't think it would be much.
The shelves are wide & deep (22.38 X 16.3" for the top piece-a bit smaller inside), this great for those of us who still like using cables & cords, & tuck them behind. There aren't any pre-cut holes in the backing, except for the mounting screws.

Beautiful Pier
Item arrived on time and in 1 box.
Be aware, no written instructions only pictures.
This is not a problem except when it comes to which direction certain pieces need to face for installation (front vs back).
You have to lay-out the pieces as to get a good view of how things go together for assembly.
The project didn't take too long for me I would say about 1 hour once I figured out how it all went together.
Overall the product is about what I expected, it's very a beautiful walnut color.
Once you have it all put together it looks way better than in the picture.
I really love it, it's beautiful and although you can place it in the living room or any other room I decided to put it in my room since it goes together with all my new bed set.
My room is still under construction but once it's all done I know it'll be perfect...
