Great looking stand for a great price--But....
For the last year I had been renovating my basement into a Mancave and finally got to the point where I ordered my 60 inch Plasma and needed a TV stand to support it. I did extensive searching on all the major retailer’s sites until I came across this one and made my decision to purchase it.
This stand incorporated everything I wanted; a floating TV, ways to conceal the cords, couple shelves and one that holds my 60 inch. Most stands you find in stores didn’t go that high.
After placing the order here on Walmart.com, I did the site to store shipping because of it being free as I was in no rush. It said it would take 7-10 business days and it arrived on Day 7. Pick-up was very easy at the store and I’m glad I read other people’s reviews on the weight of the box, as it took me and a friend to lift it into the car and down my stairs.
Building was easy and directions were self explanatory. After I got it up however is when I ran into a problem. Once everything was together I noticed that the “XYZ” bracket (as it’s called in the directions) was crooked. It was nearly three inches off and appeared to be welded that way, so instead of tearing everything apart and taking it back, I proceeded to put the TV brackets on the back of the TV and mount it to see if there was anything I could do. Once the TV was up, you could clearly tell it was crooked, so I readjusted the brackets on the back of the TV to off-set the “XYZ” mounting frame and it took care of the problem, except 1/16th of an inch, but you wouldn’t know it unless you literally used a level and measured—so I was okay with it.
The second problem I noticed after it was together was when running the cables through the spine. It is big enough to run a coax cable and an HDMI and a few more, but you can’t even feed the power plug from the TV through the spine. On top of that, there are holes on the back of the spine to feed down and to every shelf, but NO holes on the front to feed to and from your components (PS3, Wii, Cable box, Surround Sound Receiver, etc)--meaning you have to put the cords as close to the spine as you can and then feed it down.
At first I thought my spine was wrong so I went on Whalen’s official website and saw that they had a stand very similar to mine with the holes in the front and back so I called and asked if they could interchange spines and they said “no, they’re designed for each stand”. They did however apologize for the crooked “XYZ” bracket and shipped me a brand new one for free.
After spending the time to hook up all my components and hide as much of the cords as possible, I had to use a few zip ties down the back of the spine for the TV power cord and the Wii, and then I fed the rest through the spine itself and was very happy with how it turned out.
If you’re looking for a good quality, sturdy stand for a big or even littler TV, this is what you want. Make sure you make arrangements for someone to help carry the box as it is heavy, but I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for one. You could spend upwards of $500 for a stand to fit a large TV like mine and I was very happy with the $200 price tag.
On a side note, I was disappointed other reviews didn’t have pictures, so I’ve included two of them to show you what it looks like finished in a room with components.

beautiful tv stand
this tv stand is beautiful love it. The only problem I had was that the delivery guy left it at the 1st floor and the box was so heavy that I had to open it downstairs and bring the parts apart. What made the package heavy was the glass. The assembly is easy one person can build it.

Attractive Television Stand
The produce is attractive and of high quality material (glass and wood). There are 3 option for assembly - Table Top, Wall Mount and Swinging Floater. My space called for table top. Assembly was extremely easy due in large part to the packing and labeling of all parts, as well as, bolts, nuts, washers, etc. I highly recommend this product.
