Floating Shelf

Difficult to install A/V Receiver

The Good - This floating console was very easy to assemble and seems well constructed. It has a hidden compartment to hide all those nasty cords & cables.

The Bad - I don't recommend putting an A/V receiver in this console unless it is very small. An average sized Receiver will barely fit in the top shelf, there is NO ventilation, and no way to access the back of the receiver once the console is on the wall. I ended up cutting 2 rectangles in the top of the console and installing vent grommets so that the Receiver would not burn up. This also gives access to the back of the receiver. Not something most people will want to bother with.

So if the shelves are not intended for an A/V Receiver, what are they for? I guess just a cable box and dvd player with maybe a sound bar sitting on top.

As a minor complaint, I didn't even try to use the supplied lag screws because they had round heads and must be installed with an allen wrench. I substituted lag screws with hex heads so I could install with a ratchet wrench (I could have also used a driver/drill).

PERFECT

Kudos to manufacturer, was a breeze to assemble with everything fitting perfectly! Holds all components; tuner, dvd player, cable box & 2 Bose speakers with more storage for dvd's than I could fill. NO MORE SPAGHETTI CABLES as everything is hidden.
